How we celebrate the World Press Freedom Day

World Press Freedom Day is celebrated annually on May 3, since 1994. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in a special resolution of December 20, 1993 (Resolution No. A / DEC / 48/432).

On the eve of the holiday the International Federation of Journalists reported that 32journalists were killed worldwide, and called upon world governments to protect freedom of press.

Thankfully, no journalists were killed in Kazakhstan. Journalism as a profession is being killed here, quietly and methodically for a long time already. So, from the beginning of the year "Adil Soz" recorded:

Our Milestones

"Independent media are called independent because nothing depends on them" (said by President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev at a meeting with cultural workers, February 18, 2000)

"Our future prosperity is impossible without the well-coordinated work of all civil society institutions that we are building together today. "The most powerful tool for fighting corruption is publicity. If the media actively speak about this, and each message is not left unattended, we will achieve great success in this struggle" (N. Nazarbayev’s interview, March 17, 2017 .)

"Some are fast to grab a problem in some area and to overstate it. We have such a press. There was a flood in the east of the country, and they hurried to report that entire Kazakhstan is drowning. We must be sensitive in this regard, we need to show such people their place , wherever they are ". ( said by N. Nazarbayev at the XXVI session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, April 28, 2018)
