The General Prosecutor's Office responded to the appeal of citizens in the case of "Ratel.kz" and "Forbes Kazakhstan"

24 april 2018

On April 16, Adil Soz sent a formal appeal of 358 citizens to four governement bodies with a request to give a legal assessment of the actions of the law enforcement agencies and judicial organs regarding the media Ratel.kz and Forbes.kz, to protect journalists from groundless accusations and to restore the legitimate right of the community for information from these media (http://www.adilsoz.kz/news/show/id/2586).

The General Prosecutor's Office was the first to respond (see the scan below). As expected, the request was redirected to the city attorney. So, we will wait for Mr. Zhuyriktayev’s reaction. Nevertheless, we hope that the other three other addressees of the appeal will also respond - the chairman of the Supreme Court, the chairman of the Majilis (lower chamber) of the Parliament and the minister of information and communications.
