Freedom of speech in Kazakhstan: from inside and outside

In 2017 Kazakhstan ranked 179 out of 196 countries of the world in terms of freedom of speech, according to Freedom House. In 2016 it ranked 160 out of 180. The Adil Soz Foundation has made a bar chart of violations of freedom of speech in Kazakhstan since 2003:
