Criminal charge against Lukpan Akhmedyarov was dropped due to the lack of criminal elements he was charged with

The pre-judicial investigation bodies droped the criminal charge in an insult to a government representative (part 1, article 378 of the Criminal Code) against of Lukpan Akhmedyarov, editor-in-chief of the Urals Week. The prosecutor's office found this decision to be legal.

As it was reported earlier, according to Lukpan, on Saturday, July 22 when he was far from the city, when someone, who said to be  policeman Turmanov, called him and asked  to appear in the police station for drawing up a  record of an administrative offense committed by the journalist earlier. The policeman reported Lukpan to the Uralsk city police department and requested to  bring the editor of the "Uralskaya Nedelya" to criminal liability under art. 378 p. 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Insulting a representative of authority). The pre-trial investigation started on July 29, 2017.
