In Karaganda region policemen attempted to prevent journalists of television channel 101TV from reporting mass death of cattle

12 June journalists of 101TV  of Karaganda Public Internet-Television 101TV went to Mynbaeva village to report mass death of  cattle. The police cordoned the village  and journalists were not allowed to pass.  

The editorial staff of the television channel informed that correspondents still managed to enter the village and shoot the story  

«Policemen put cordoned the village and tried to prevent journalists from shooting the story. But finally our correspondents could enter the village and shoot the story  As we were informed restrictions were introduced in the village due to the mass death of cattle, but neither regional akimat (local authorities) nor veterinary service could comment this situation», - editorial staff informed.

07 June television channel showed a story on mass death of  cattle in Mynbaeva. 25 heads of cattle were reported dead and 50 more - sick. According to official preliminary version, it was caused by pasteurellosis, but the residents of the village suspect it was foot-and-mouth disease.

That day the journalists faced local authorities’ attempts to prevent them from shooting the story.  According to information of television channel, «akim (mayor) of the Mynbaeva village Zhanat Ashimov and district police officer nearly  attacked a camera man of one of the television channels, when he attempted to make a video of dead cattle».

However, journalists continue to look after situation in spite of attempts to interfere with their legal professional activity.
