Lukpan Akhmedyarov complained about threats from an official of Internal Affairs Department of West-Kazakhstan region
On May 15 the editor of the newspaper "Uralskaya Nedelya" (Uralsk Week) Lukpan Ahmedyarov sent a voice message criticizing heads of Health Department, Physical Education and Sports Administration and Department of Internal Affairs in WhatsApp chat for journalists and press services of the West Kazakhstan region. Akhmedyarov complained that those department heads were completely closed to the press, although there were enough reasons for them to meet with journalists.
In response, the press secretary of the Internal Affairs Department of the Western Kazakhstan region, Akbolat Kateshev, allowed himself tough talk to Lukpan Ahmedyarov in the same chat and then offered to continue the dialog in the form of private messages.
According to Lukpan Akhmedyarov, Akbolat Kateshev send a private message to him saying (a word by word translation from the Kazakh language): "Dear, it seems you forgot at whose sill you are sitting in Selektsionniy. Should I remind you again? "(Selektsionniy Settlement - Uralsk region, where L. Ahmedyarov lives).
Lukpan asked: "What is that suppose to mean? Are you the master of Derkul? Or am I in your house? "
"I asked him what he meant, and whether I understand correctly that he reminds me of the attempted assassination of me in Selektsionniy?" However, he refused to explain anything, - Lukpan Ahmadyarov said. - Since I have never had any personal, especially material, affairs with the press secretary of the Internal Affairs Department of the Western Kazakhstan region, I consider his words to be a direct threat and a hint that if I continue to criticize the head of the Department of Internal Affairs, something bad may happen to me again, for example, another murder bid.
According to Lukpan Ahmedyarov, he emailed screenshots of his correspondence with Akbolat Kateshev to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a request to comment on the situation.
