Round table "Freedom of speech – international standards"

There was a conduction of round table "Freedom of speech – international standards" on September 09, 2013 in Astana. This round table was organized by International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz" under the auspices of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Soros-Foundation-Kazakhstan, International Association of Freedom of Expression (IFEX) and Center of the OSCE in Astana.
Over the course of the round table, experts of the OSCE and Finnish Media Organization (VIKES), Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deputies of Majilis of Senate of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, leaders of NGOs, journalists and lawyers discussed issues of improvement of media legislation.
Regardless invitation, General Prosecutor's Office (in particular, it was one of the fundamental developers of new editions of Criminal Code and Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan) did not participate in activity of round table.
