"ATF – Bank" charges newspaper "Svoboda Slova" with discredition of business reputation

There are legal proceeding by suit of "ATF – Bank" to the newspaper "Svoboda Slova" and businesswoman Olga Ababkova in Medeu District Court of Almaty. The charges stemmed from article "Chained courts and banks" by Valeriy Efimov, which was published on April 08, 2010. There was information on legal proceeding between businesswoman Olga Ababkova and servicemen of "ATF – Bank". They were unsatisfied by article. It discredited business reputation of the bank. Olga Ababkova should refute information in article; send letters to Agency on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and to the newspaper "Svoboda Slova"; recover more KZT16000000 (USD10884) as moral damage. Plaintiff asked editorial staff of the newspaper "Svoboda Slova" to publish refutation in next issue and collect state duty from the newspaper.

Specialists of Public Centre of Expertise of Information Disputes under foundation "Adil Soz" made linguistic examination of material. There was no any information, which discredited activity of "ATF – Bank".
