There was continuation of legal proceeding by suit of Internet-users to Ministry of Communication and Information

There was a next legal proceeding by suit of reporter Eugeniya Plakhina to Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 20, 2010 in Almaly District Court № 2 of Almaty. Eugeniya Plakhina acknowledged her request, concerning unblocking of forum-partner of the portal “Respublika”, Internet-portal “Respublika” and some its “mirrors”; mentioned about infringements of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens for free getting and dissemination of information.
She provided some records of different nongovernmental organizations as a proof of blocking of these resources.
Representative Officer of Ministry of Communication and Information S.T. Omarasheva confirmed fact of blocking. She said that it was done according to law “On Licensing”. Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan did not interfere in activity of provider.
She has also added that there were no any infringements of right for access to information in list of cases of revocation of a license.
Court has adjourned about arguments. Next legal proceeding will be held on July 29, 2010 at 14.00 p.m.
Lawyer of International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech “Adil Soz” Ganna Krasilnikova gave legal assistance for reporter Eugeniya Plakhina.
