Journalists Sergey Duvanov and Andrei Sviridov were fined on KZT 70000 for participation in action of protest

Independent journalists participated in action of protest "Leader of Nation- Disgrace to Nation". It was carried out on Square of Republic (Almaty) near stela of Independence on June 16, 2010. They showed placard "Leader of Nation- Disgrace to Nation" and explained to reporters their position, concerning this point.
Participants of this action left for square. But, they were detained and sent to Bostandyk Department of Internal Affairs by law-enforcement organs. Police officers made a protocol of administrative violation.
On June 17, 2010 Specialized Inter District Administrative Court of Almaty examined two cases. These two cases were examined by different judges at the same time. Journalists were charged with "Violation of legislation of organization and conduction of peaceful meetings, rallies, pickets and demonstrations" under article 373 of Code of Administrative Violations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Public Prosecutor insisted on arrest of Andrei Sviridov for fifteen days. But, judge made court decision. As a result of it everyone of them was fined on fifty monthly assessment indicies (KZT70650/USD480).
