Collective of television program “Ayna Line” of TV Radio Company “31 Channel” has been disagreed with project closure

On May 05, 2010 Kanat Tleukhan and his collective of television program “Ayna Line” of TV Radio Company “31 Channel” carried out press conference in Almaty. They said about the letter for Minister of communication and Information Askar Zhumagaliev and Chairman of Majilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Oral Mukhamedzhanov. There was information on critical situation on television channel. Russian company “STS-Media” has acquired 20% of shares. The collective thought that “STS-Media” took under its control Kazakhstan’s information field. As a result it collective and financial policy; inside structure of TV Radio Company “31 Channel” were depended on staff of Moscow. There were violations of law “On Languages of the Republic of Kazakhstan” of the Republic of Kazakhstan on television channels; 35% of Kazakh-speaking broadcasts and Russian and Turkish serials were translated to Kazakh language. About ten television programs on Kazakh language were suspended on TV Radio Company “31 Channel” during two-three years.

Collective has expressed their disagreement concerning, project closure “Ayna Line”. As a result of it they did not get a salary for ten issues and materials for planned television broadcasts.

General Producer of TV Radio Company “31 Channel” Igor Syrtsov has made a commentary of the situation. He said that the television program was not closed, but it was suspended and re-format. Television Program “Ayna Line” had a low rating according to materials of research company “Gallup Media Asia”. I. Syrtsov pointed out that he planned to work with the collective of Kanat Tleukhan and said that there was agreement on efficiency wages. On May 05, 2010 run payroll calculations were made for them for the whole period of their activity. But, they did not know anything about it and did not get a salary.
