Kazakh Arbat.media was summoned to a Russian court
Kazakh media company Arbat.media received a summons to the Leninsky District Court of the city of Vladimir, Russia. The 19th Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Army filed a lawsuit against Arbat.media for its article “Russian invaders are defeated in the Kharkiv region, but do not want to admit it,” published in September 2022. Russian state regulator Roskomnadzor considered that the article, published in Kazakhstan, contained information that violated the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Roskomnadzor demanded to delete the article back in November 2022, but the media company did not do this.
“We are a Kazakh news company and do not violate the laws of Kazakhstan, and therefore we see no reason to delete the article,” Arbat.media then stated.
Kazakh media regularly receive such claims from the Russian regulator. Ratel.kz, Vlast.kz, Informburo, The Village Kazakhstan, NewTimes.kz faced the same demands earlier.
