Journalist Duman Muhammadkarim Detained

Duman Mukhammedkarim, the author of the Youtube channel "Ne Deidi," was detained in the Almaty region, according to the head of the human rights organization "Ar.Rukh.Khak," Bakhytzhan Toregozhina. On May 1, Mukhammedkarim was detained and subsequently arrested for 25 days for violating the law on rallies. He was released on May 26. 
Mukhammedkarim was an independent candidate for the Mazhilis (lower chamber of the Parliament) in the elections held on March 19, 2023.
