Harassment of media intensifies. Elmedia office is under attack again

Three days ago, unknown people broke the glass door of the office building where Elmedia's editorial office is located, and left an inscription in red paint at the entrance indicating the "addressee" - Elmedia. kz news.

As the editors of the media reported, today they faced another attack - the window of the business center was broken. This time the people who done that, identified themselves. A message from a certain Andrey came to the editorial Telegram channel: “Good afternoon, have you already seen that we  broke the glass again yesterday? This time is was at the main entrance.” When asked about the aim of such actions, the man responded with threats, saying that they were “planning something else more severe” and would come again today. In response to other questions, the author of the message only sent a photo of the rope and soap and asked to show it to  Gulzhan Yergalieva, the head of the project.

As it was reported, earlier the Elmedia website was subjected to a massive DDoS attack, the editorial phones and the personal phone of Gulzhan Yergaliyeva were also attacked. Moreover, her phone number was posted on sex services websites, that caused an avalanche of calls and interfered with the normal work of a journalist.

Several other media were also subjected to DDoS attacks, including KazTAG and Orda.kz. Moreover, unidentified persons sent a pig head to the editorial office of Orda.kz

The police initiated criminal investigations, but it is not known when and if the criminals  will be found.

Darkhan Kydyraly, Minister of Information and Social Development (MISD) said that the ministry is following the situation. "We condemn such actions against our colleagues. We are ready to provide legal support to Orda.kz," he wrote on Facebook.

We wonder if the minister is ready to support Elmedia as well, and what exactly can MISD do to help it?
