Attempted murder of Amangeldy Batyrbekov: the court passed a sentence

On November 24, Kasym Kalmagambetov the chairman of the specialized interdistrict court for criminal cases of Turkestan region, passed a sentence for the attempted murder of Amangeldy Batyrbekov, the editor of "Saryagash info" newspaper.

The following sentences were passed to the organizers and perpetrators of the crime: ex-head of the Saryagash district education department Baurzhan Mayrikhov –  11 years 3 months of imprisonment, his former subordinate Sabyrkhoja Moldakhodjaev – 11 years, Abdukhamid Kuandykov – 13 years, Meyrzhan Dosbolov –  12 years, Nurgali Kydyraliev – 12 years 6 months. All of them will serve their sentences in a high-security institution.

The verdict has not yet entered into force, it can be appealed within 15 days.

As it was reported, the attempted murder of a journalist took place on the night of January 4 in the city of Saryagash. Unknown persons opened fire near the house of the "Saryagash info"  editor and wounded Batyrbekov's son Dinmukhamed.

Amangeldy Batyrbekov believes the attack is related to his professional activity. "Saryagash-Inform" regularly publishes articles exposing actions of local officials who, in revenge, accuse him of many sins.
