The Appeals Board of the Almaty City Court confirmed the rightness of journalist Serikzhan Mauletbay.

The board, having considered the decision of the first-instance court and having heard the arguments of the parties, issued the decree to uphold the ruling of the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of Almaty dismissing the tourist company’s claims and to dismiss the appeal petition of the plaintiff.

As it was repoted earlier, the lawsuite was initiated because of the article "How travel agencies con dummytourists, not breaking the law" (Informburo.kz, 29.11.2016). The article tells the real stories of A. Skorobogatov and L. Erzhova and provides the comments of specialists. Art Asia LLP is mentioned as an example in the article together with other companies.

According to the plaintiff, the content of the article and the comments contain inaccurate information, discredit business reputation, and causes material damage. According to the plantiff, its customers terminated agreements and demanded the paid money back after reading the article. The company demanded to delete words and information discrediting its honor and dignity, to delete the name of the travel company from the text and to give a refutation worded by the plaintiff.
