International Foundation for Protection of\r\nFreedom of Speech \"Adil Soz\" has conducted a survey of\r\nviolations of right to freedom of expression, receiving and dissemination of\r\ninformation in May, 2015 in Kazakhstan.
\r\nThere was following information:
\r\n- In Pavlodar,\r\neditor-in-chief of the newspaper «Version» Yaroslav Golyshkin was\r\narrested;
\r\n- Criminal proceeding against\r\neditor of the newspaper «Issykskiy Vestnik» A. Musabaeva (in\r\nparticularly, she was charged) was closed;
\r\n- Cassation instance has upheld judgment of\r\nacquittal. The judgment of acquittal was awarded with regard to journalist\r\nOksana Zhivitskaya.
\r\nIn May, five judicial acts of earlier considered cases over suits on\r\nprotection of honour, dignity and business reputation were passed in March.\r\nThey also, included two in appellate instance; three of them in favour of\r\njournalists and citizens.
\r\nSince the beginning of the year in connection with\r\nexecution of right to freedom of expression, receiving and dissemination of\r\ninformation, they were brought:
\r\n- 8 charges with slander (incl. passing data – 2);
\r\n- 3 charges with incitement of national enmity;
\r\n- 3 charges with dissemination of misleading\r\ninformation (article 274 of Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
\r\n- 39 pre-trial claims and suits on protection of\r\nhonour, dignity and business reputation.
\r\nFrom January, courts considered 21 cases over suits on protection of\r\nhonour, dignity and business reputation in the total amount of KZT553millions\r\nand 600 thousands.
